Want to know how to convert $300.00 to nothing in a couple of weeks?
Easy. Go put and buy a $ 300.00 kit and build it. It was worth the 300 on the shelf in the shop, dropped to 150 in your stash, and as soon as it was complete it became unsaleable. Not quite valueless if you were made happy for the fortnight, but you’ll never get an actual penny back for it.
This is also the case with a lot of consumer items. Buy a pair of shoes and wear them and then see what you get for them at the Good Will. Or buy a bottle of expensive wine and drink it. In three hours you couldn’t sell it.
But isn’t it funny – the respect and care with which the finished models are treated is all out of proportion to their actual monetary value. They generate additional cost in storage cabinets and lighting, yet give none of it back.
Somewhere there is a solution to this, but you can’t buy it in a bottle at the hobby shop…
