Ruritania Poste – Part Five A – RT-ASA

Before I present the newest mail-planes of Ruritania Poste I must address the members of my model building club.

Yes, gentlemen, I know we have a motto that extolls being true to scale and true to life. I am always encouraged by this when I see see the egg planes and cardboard police cars in the display shelves. As you have accepted those, accept these.

The Heinkel He111 is destined for the Asian route – all the way to Hong Kong, if anyone in Strelsau can write Mandarin. The plane has enough space in the revised sterbebette to hold a decent load of mail, as well as in the gutted bomb bays. There will be space for contraband; turnip brandy going east and plastic toys going west.

Purists may quail at the decision to overpaint the nose of the He 111. Aerotania figured that if the front position was not required for a bombardier to drop things on Coventry that it could be covered over for the sake of style. You can always scrape paint off…

The two drop tanks meant a greater range and a flexibility to select where you are going to stop for fuel. If one country has cheaper prices, fly on a bit farther.

Hey, it’s cheaper than ordering a new Douglas.
