I used to think traps were for the unwary. Then I found myself carefully sticking my fingers in to get the cheese and reaping a snappy reward.

There are also traps in the Academy F-15 kit – mainly slight sinks in the intakes and screeching big troubles between the top and bottom halves of the fuselage/wing. I suspect this was one build where I should have trimmed off the locating pins and just gone with a progressive cementation.

In the end, Mr. White Putty came to the rescue on the tail. The cockpit sides yielded to progressive scraping and sanding, and the nose cone had more than enough space for the lead weight. I’ve turned up another tin of musket balls so I should have no tail sitters from now on. The P-39’s are always problematical, but next one I build I am going to lighten the tail as well as weight the nose.
