Lockheed Hercules – Part Three – Enough Meat On The Bone

In my recent builds I have concentrated upon small aircraft.

This is fun and fine – it delivers quick satisfaction and another plane for the collection. But it sometimes seems as if there is very little going on – that the thing flies together in a day or so. I start to miss the meat of a bigger meal. Hence my delight at the larger frame of the Lockheed Hercules and the greater amount of work needed to get it together. Stretching it out in a club build makes it even better.

Note: A club build can be a very planned affair. I have not yet gotten to the point of a schedule but I can see it coming some day. But schedules imply stress and fear of falling behind. Not a hobby feeling.

The recent weeks have seen a concentration upon the basic fuselage structures and then the wings and tanks. I am shameless enough to sand off raised lines every now and then and lazy enough not to replace them with scribing. Also quite satisfied with detail as moulded – though I do appreciate moulders like Italeri who can make things seamless before you apply cement.

I also love the fact that the main wheels have separate hubs…they’ll be painted white and have perfect rims.
