Ess Bend Engineering – Part Two – Now You Sea One

And I wish you could sea two.

The Trumpeter kit for a 40′ sea container is a beauty – and as it came under the wing of an EOFY sale by Hobbytech, I seized upon it gleefully. I would have been even more delighted if it had been a pair of 20′ containers as these will fit in my scenario much better – the 40-footer is pretty long for any posing purpose.

But it is such a well-made kit that I am reluctant to saw it in two and try to cobble up a couple of ends – the door mechanism is complex – and we all know what it looks like.

The colour scheme is another thing – the Trumpeter box shows a plain blue with no company markings – possible, but a terrible waste of advertising space. The real things that come in and out of Fremantle are carrying logos and identifiers. They are also generally quite beat-up.

This I can fix, and it will be a pleasure to make it look as if it has sat around a Vancouver dock in the rain for a number of months.
