Purists will note that there are no unit markings on this WW1 female tank. There’s a good reason for this.

The tank has been sold to Ruritania, after completing its time on the western front. The Royal Ruritanian Army has no experience with this new arm and so is cautions about what to paint on it and where. They prefer to make their mistakes discretely.

The instructions for the tank’s colour are somewhat vague. Some sources say they were olive drab – some say khaki. The museum example seen on the net is almost tan in colour – due, perhaps to fading.

This tank was khaki relieved with sand and then washed with thin mahogany. The effect is strong, but that’s the way the Ruritanians like ’em. As they have also sent out agents to purchase German, American, and French war surplus, we may see nearly any colour.

My thanks to Gary Dollar Man for a wonderful two day build.
