I intended this build as a little stop-gap project to fill the time until Matchbox March. It has proved to be a rewarding gem.

The Revell kit was unprepossessing enough – indeed most of the tiny WW1 planes from this firm are old kits and you find yourself prejudiced because of it. Of course, if the price is low, they do make a bargain build. So is this one.

Time had not improved the box, nor the instructions, nor the decals. The plastic sprue trees were as flawed as they ever were, right from day one back in the 60’s. But it fit and got better and better as it went on.

Now it’s an authentic representation of an actual plane photographed in colour on service over a hundred years ago. That’s close enough for me.
