I have been googling the Javelin kit I bought and have come to some interesting conclusions – it is the Mister Craft mould but there are marked differences between these two and the original FROG sprue trees for the 1950’s.
These chiefly revolve about the addition of a long whale-rib probe on the starboard side and a multi-part landing gear assembly. A lot of the rest is a lot of the same but I am not complaining – the Firestreak missiles are particularly finely moulded.

Can also pay some tribute to the fit of the horizontal stabiliser on the T-tail – it slid into place with hardly any gap. The vertical portion looks equally as good on the fuselage.

Not so with the wings – while the underside of these massive planes does but up reasonably well, the top surface has deep slots.

Never mind – the underside will end up being High Speed Silver while the upper is grey and green – the critical joint under the bottom needs to be closer if it is to be filled to invisibility. I do not expect Tamiya seams, but I’ll need to practice old-school skills with the joins.

Note that the top and bottom of the fuselage mate almost perfectly. And the surgery on the tail to bring it to FAW 9 status was simple – the sawing-off was easily done on the internal groove.
