Dornier Do-17Z – Part Four – Kenttävihreä

Gesundheit. Here, have a tissue.

It actually means Olive Green and the information sheet I have assigns an FS number to it: FS34096. There are the numbers on Mr. Color paint jars as well as those of other makers, but none seem to be exactly the same colour. I have elected to try my luck with some FAA Slate grey plus a little yellow. Even the FAA slate is a home mixture. I am confident enough that I will not encounter any preserved Do-17Z aircraft nor any old Finnish bomber pilots to decry me. Of course there are club anoraks but that is the price you pay…

The bottom colour is RLM 65 – probably the finish that it had when delivered in the war years. The second top colour has been variously noted as black or black-green. I have a jar of both and will settle for an admixture to halve the odds.

Note that I have given up entirely on the practice of separating my paint pots into alcohol acrylics vs lacquer acrylics. They all get the same thinner and as far as I can see they all go on very well. Later glosses and mattes reduce the different specular reflections to an even surface anyway.
