Yesterday was Christmas. In the morning I unwrapped my Christmas gift and expressed delight and surprise. Only one of those emotions was genuine.
I bought it myself – at my local hobby shop – with my own money. It was be just what I wanted because I knew what I wanted. I have been reimbursed by the family for that purchase so all the accountancy is in order. There is happiness in anticipation and eventually a very nice 1:72 model I’ve not built before. Long ago when I and the planet were young, the Christmas models were a mystery until unwrapped – but I can never recall receiving one that did not please me. A couple never got built, but that was my skill at fault – the givers did their best. I bless them.
What a blessing as well; a hobby that can be catered to for $ 50 and that has such a wide variation that nearly anything is welcomed. No time spent in the hobby shop is sad time – even if we cannot buy the expensive goods, we can afford the dreams. And every visit shows us a new idea.
Must go. Cement calls.
