Or mouth, as the case might be. I plucked this Mister Craft bomber off the hobby shop shelf as part of a Christmas present…wondering if I was going to get another dud. Mister Craft can mould some real curate’s eggs…
In thus case I was not too dismayed by the sprue trees, but I did note some rather agricultural moulding for the engines and the tail assembly. This is a plane that could be had with either a single central vertical stabiliser and rudder or a twin tail. The model firm obviously wanted to make the most sales so they designed the kit to have a separate tail assembly – this means an ugly seam line at the back.

The wings also have deep grooves on the fillet joint top and bottom – my normal practice is to minimise this on the top and save the hard filling and sanding for the underside . Note the relatively wide nature of the wing and the amount of fuselage it needs.

The engines…well, this its the place where the pampered modellers of Europe and North America can fall back on after-market replacement parts in resin. Here in Australia we have to mend or make do.

The instructions are really decent and, as much as I distrust Mister Craft decals, at least the colour call-out is comprehensive. If you can get paint, you can find a reference for it. Oddly enough, there is no mention of the Polish Hataka brand. perhaps it is too new for this old model.

A reasonable egg so far…
