PZL 37a – Part Two – Club Time

This PZL bomber was reserved for a club time build and missed out on some of the workshop photos that other builds get. But in the end it came out well.

The frontal view of the aircraft tells a unique story – the dual wheels set onto the landing gear legs. It is the first time i can remember this sort of design in a twin-engine aircraft. I can only assume that the Poles knew the sort of a rough surface from which it might be required to operate and provided the extra tyre surface to spread the load. Doing it this way also obviated the need for a larger single tyre that would in turn have needed a larger streamlined housing.

I am going to assume the machine gun armament has been moulded with a heavy hand…or they are large calibre weapons. There is little detail in the bomb bay area to remark.

The canopy and nose were hard to paint, and not that well fitting, but at least they give the correct impression. I should have hated trying to mask them.

Did the decals settle? Yes, as long as they were given a long soaking. Mister Craft artwork is good on the colour call-out but problematical on the sheet. I was grateful for finding a scheme that was accurate, but minimal.

All in all, a decent Christmas present. Note there is a preserved model in Poland that helped with the markings.
