Northrop Black Widow – Part One – ‘Tis A Gift…

And ’tis the only thing gifted about me – the ability to attract free model aircraft. This one is from a lady in payment for some Christmas family pictures.

Again, it is a case of telling the client the scale I model in and letting them go and pick out something they fancy. So far no-one duplicated a kit and none of their choices have been uninteresting. This one, however is a pretty specific sort of aircraft, and did not have all that many variations in livery or equipment.

I do already number a Hobby Boss P-61 Black Widow in classic nightfighter black in the collection, so this one will need some research. The kit is an Airfix classic, and has all the rivets, flash, and sink marks that one can expect from the 60’s. The clear parts are scribed, but look like they are going to be work.

The instructions are a period piece but the decals are brand new. The stencil maniac has been let loose and has done his worst.

But I am a kit whisperer and this one will be a good project for my Saturday modelling group.
