Northrop Gamma – Part One – Inter-war Special

Newcastle Song Day. And I didn’t let the chance go by.

This was the first time I had seen a Williams kit – though I had read about them in Scalemetes. The impression I got was that they were rather garage-kit like. This vanished when I opened the box at the club’s stash sale and barbecue and discovered what seems to be a perfectly good injected product.

Grey and clear styrene but no brass or resin.

The panel lines are raised but the finest things you’ve ever seen – it will be a delicate job closing the fuselage to avoid disturbing them.

The kit provides parts and decals for four versions of this civil plane – a promotional ship for Texaco and an Antarctic explorer’s plane. I shall settle for the Phase I Texaco Sky Chief – I’ve seen die-cast replicas and they are quite striking in polished silver. This will definitely be an aircraft for the Gunze Super-Metallic line of paint and the thinnest of the undercoats.
