This kit is the second legacy purchase from a deceased estate. The club member who passed away had not started it.
A short google search turned up a number of RAF squadrons who flew this type and several clear illustrations showing camouflage pattern and squadron markings. As I had built a Wellington Mk 1c before in Coastal Command colours, this one would be dedicated to Bomber Command – they should make fine display twins.

The MPM kit is pure Czech moulding – clean and detailed, with the characteristic cross-patterning of the Wellington’s geodesic frame showing through the simulated fabric cover. The final paint job will be matt, of course, but kept as thin as practicable so as not to lose the texture.

Note the superb clear mouldings – the previous CC build did not show the side windows, but this one does, and some effort will be needed to make sure the framing inside is visible. I am thinking it may need to be a clear decal with the frames…

I like the decal sheet. and will make as much use of it as possible. WWII British pattern stuff was fairly consistent as the Air Ministry was fussy. This will be early war.
This will be my third Wellington in 74 years – the first one Airfix, the second Italeri, and now MPM. I shall not hang this one from a string thumb-tacked to the ceiling, though the temptation is strong…
