You will have read the science experiment that resulted in determining the best decal coating solution. Here it is in action.
Supercheap Auto clear acrylic diluted with Mr Color Rapid Thinner and sprayed in three thin coats.
Releases in good time, and can be floated down over Mr Mark Setter and positioned accurately. No panic over the time taken and no distortion of the decal.
For oddly-shaped decals – like the tail panels or the under-chin stripes on this OV-10A, I lay out what I think will be the correct shape, then repeat it 5% and 10% bigger to give some leeway if I have not measured correctly. I also lay out 3 decals if I am only going to need 2 – meaning I have a backup in case of some error putting it down. It takes a a lot of the pressure off.
Once down, of course, they can be sealed with a semigloss or gloss clear coat. And it’s on to the final lap of the race…
