Nieuport-Delage 622 – Part Two – Canadian Club

I have chosen this title because of the shape of the Nieuport-Delage 622’s fuselage and sesquiplane lower wing.

It reminds me of a baby seal. Coming from the Frozen North as I did, some things are ethnographic… Stop shuddering. If you can eat Vegemite on toast within the sight of decent people, you can stand anything.

The fuselage of this Heller kit is not the precise moulding one comes to expect from Airfix of Tamiya. It had a number of sinuousities that only yielded to progressive cementation. One bit clamped until set and then another forced into contact with more cement. Eventually the nose fused and work could speed up.

Note that the French seem to have painted the inside of the cockpit in an ivory colour. I applaud this as it makes a nice change from green or grey.

The contour of the sesquiwing is incorrect, but reshaping would disturb the rib patterns – so it is being left alone.

The final picture shows painted progress with a gloss Mr. Color basic primary green. The gloss will aid in decaling. Kudos to Heller for sturdy mounting blocks that hold the landing gear struts in place.
