Soviet ZIS-5 – Part Five – Fiddler On The Workbench

Oy!

The various sub-assemblies of the ZIS-5 have been models in their own right – the Hobby Boss factory having moulded them in such detail as to justify taking a great deal of care with them. This is good practice anyway, but here the diagrams of the instruction sheet were particularly useful – the sequence needed was a precise one.

The cab fitted onto the fenders only after a bigger hole was dug for the foot pedals. This is buried deep within the model and will never cause shame – in any case it was either cut the hole or cut the pedals off.

The enthusiasts who wire engines this small have my admiration but not my emulation. I am content with the structure as moulded.
