De Havilland Beaver – Part Four – Bluebell Bay Belle

Kootenay Lake in British Columbia is long, wide, and very deep – and hemmed on every side by mountains.

Perfect flying water for an air taxi. Thus was born the idea of providing an air service connecting Kuskanook, Kootenay Bay, and Kaslo – with stops at Riondel. Balfour, and Lardeau. The perfect vehicle is the Belle Of The Bay – the De Havilland Beaver float plane.

You’ll notice the ” K ” theme is carried out on the tail of the aircraft.

6 seats, and space on the floats for canoes or fuel drums – extra charges apply. The plane is on requisition for the RCMP at Kaslo when necessary – since the demise of the Kootenay paddle steamers there is only the road connection between Duncan Dam and Nelson – this air service provides a vital link.

This is a delightful Airfix Vintage Classic and fully rewards the price paid. the prominent riveting is not undesirable under a sharp Mr. Color No. 208 super-duralumin finish.
