Israeli Bell 47 – Part Three – A Bubble In The Desert Sun

It cannot have been much fun to climb into a Bell 47 bubble in the desert sun of the Negev.

Even on a cold day, it would have been hot in there and the overhead fan would not have helped if you had the doors shut…

The Italeri kit has proved as good as it could be – though the engine tipped forward a tad. The shaft angle has since been adjusted, though the rotor won’t be whirling now…

The paint scheme is speculative, as the only real source of a picture is an Iskra decals cover sheet and that’s a small image. However, I think I am happy with the set of hues and tones.

The kit built in two days flat – testimony to the speed that you can go when the territory is familiar. The paint is flat as, and the magen well stuck with decal adhesive.

Now to try to locate a couple of SIkorsky S-55’s – one for the RCN and one for the IDF. I know there was a good version out of the Czech republic a few years ago, but it would be in stash territory by now.
