Airbus 320-200 – Part One – Box Scale

Here we go – doin’ things I said I’d never do again. Box scale, and a factory that has turned out some awful junk before…

Be fair, me. It has only turned out junk when the moulds they bought from former moulders were time-expired. Some of them were junk in their first iteration, so they could hardly have gotten better in the new form.

Also, to be fair, my experiences with their horrible decals were due to not understanding how they should be handled. I’ve experimented and improved since then, and can make Mister Craft designs release and settle pretty well. Sort of. I pick easy schemes.

This model fell like a plum so there is little of which to complain. It is a box scale – 1:125 – and will be built wheels-up on a flying stand. Otherwise it would be a crippled bird the first time it was put on the table.

The moulding is a combination of raised and sunken lines with just enough detail to make an airlines promo model. Some flash but nothing sunken.window openings are crisp. There are windows but we’ll have to see whether they will fit well enough or whether it will be MicroClear.

It was once a Heller product but the maker’s marks have been removed.

The instructions are commendably clear and the colour call-out all one could want. I’m opting for the Swissair livery.
