At last – my chance to do a classic Monogram kit that I never built before.
Whatever the flaws there may be in this old kit – the raised rivets, etc, it has the priceless advantage of being part of plastic history. There will be movable landing gear, and I shall not hesitate to make full use of it. I can only hope that the plastic used by the people who have taken over this mould will stand up to the pressure.

The kit is marked Monogram – before it became Revell and monogram – but the plastic bags inside the box state that it is moulded in Poland. The way the industry has evolved…and if my experience of Polish kits is anything to go on, it will be a crap shoot to see whether it is acceptable.

There is some flash – which you would expect from a 50’s mould. I do not see sink marks. The decal sheet looks decent and the instructions are a reprint anyway. Interestingly the decal sheet is marked ” Revell 2011 ” so your guess is as good as mine.

The delightful part of this build comes when I paint- the RCAF used them for rescue work and there will be some big-time fluoro orange panels as well as the lightning flashes. when completed, it will be my fourth Canadian rescue aircraft.

Canucks get themselves into a lot of trouble, eh?
