Eat All Your Peas

And one of several things will happen:

a. You will earn dessert.

b. You will be too full of peas to want dessert.

c. More peas will served, as you obviously enjoy them.

d. You will come to hate peas.

e. You will fart like a dog for hours.

I like peas, as it happens, but only because I know how to take them in moderation. But this column isn’t about peas…it’s about scale models.

When I build a complex model, it is like a large plate of peas. I start fast, slow down, and then work methodically through the thing. It starts to cloy about 3/4 of the way through but picks up interest at the end. I look forward to the dessert of writing it up.

However, I need to stop myself from going back and getting another plate of the same peas. This is where a variety of kits – either in the stash or the local hobby shop – is the best answer. I do not build two of the same scale or type of kit in succession. There must be a break in the chain – otherwise I fart like a dog.
