Our hobby is on the side of the angels.

And also on the side of science and the law. As scale modellers we have endured the sneers and taunts of people ever since out first kit. Now we have vindication – our interest in scale models is of benefit to mankind.

Okay – I hear you say that modellers made aircraft recognition models for the USAAF and RAAF in the 40’s that helped ground defences prepare for attack, Good point.

But now I have a book that tells how an American woman made highly detailed dioramas for the US Departments of Justice and police forces to train them in forensic science.

This is 1930’s-40’s stuff and the model scenes are a little crude – but as you read further they are exactly to the point and ground-breakingly useful. They have done no end of good in a sad, bad field.
