How Do You Cope When They Don’t Approve Of Your Model?

Or worse; how do you cope when they do?

If you submit your scale models to public scrutiny at exhibitions you invite criticism. It may be constructive and helpful or snide and miserable – but you have no control of it after your model slides onto the display table.

Decide long before then whether you want or need this feedback. Some people do wish for praise and fame – but few wish for blame at the same time.

The entire circumstance can be a measure of of the critic as well as of the builder. It’s often hard to accurately determine whether an artist does what they do for the result, the reaction, or the reward – Picasso and Dali being prime examples of the mixture. In the scale model world there are a few famous names, but only a few infamous ones.

I wonder if anyone makes a resin-cast model of a contest judge? What colour green do you paint it? Is it available in clear resin?
