Chinese Flying Animal – Part Two – Ukrainian Jewel

I cannot praise the ICM model makers enough for this little gem.

An aircraft this small could be a temptation to cut corners – to mould haphazardly and make just a few large parts. The ICM firm in Ukraine have gone the other way – they have finely engraved, precisely designed, and cleanly moulded.

As a result a few hours spent at the Cambridge Library during a Historical Modelling friends club meeting saw the fuselage joined, the detailed engine assembled, and the interior completed. Of course there is seam smoothing, painting and further work before we get to the exterior, but the time spent was very pleasant.

You need your wits about you with tiny kits from precise moulders as there will be parts that would rather break than separate from their sprue trees cleanly. I had two incidents but re-cemented them and they are fine.

In every respect this is actually first-rate modelling at pocket-change price.
