The Third-Party Direct Hearsay Evidence

That you read once, but can’t remember where. You know, the absolute shining truth that is too good to repress…

The sort of tale that you tell to the other modellers around the table as they cut and glue, enhancing your status as the expert who has seen it all. With a bit of luck they will be so busy that no-one will ask you for proof of your assertions.

Thank goodness scale modelling clubs do not run on the rules of evidence. That nasty, cold sort of thinking they do at magistrate’s courts with boring law books and courts of appeal. Being appealing is the last thing you want when you are putting a kit together.

It helps a great deal if you can get a book to supply you with guff. Printed pages make everything sound real, and if the thing is supplied by a government it is even more so. You may have a little problem with Soviet or North Korean information but when you are forced to lie, lie big.

Skeptics can be dealt with using mystery. If it is all a secret covered conspiracy by you-know-who you’ll not be required to provide proof of anything. Practice nodding and winking.
