I am always happy to see military aircraft in bright colours – the yellow wings of the pre-war US Navy – the dazzling squadron codes of the pre-war RAF – the bright stripes of the pre-war Italians. Because brightly coloured aircraft are not intended to shoot at each other.

So the decorated tails of the US Navy and US Marines are fine. And the white underside with Light Gull Grey topsides are also fine – they meet at a sharp line and do not interfere with each other. If I lay down an undercoat of matt varnish the final lacquers will be very even.

Note: In the case of this sort of even colour the Mr Hobby Procom single action airbrush is much better than the double-action version – wider pattern and smoother coating.

The fancy tank decoration is as noted before – a pure frippery.
