Out past where the buses run…
Or modelling to your own script. The art of doing what you darn well please and then having the courage to show it to others. It is not the path all would take, but then why keep to the footpath all your life, eh?
The display at the MCS had a very well-written explanation of the appearance the diorama and tied it in with previous year’s displays. I remember thinking they were slightly odd, as well, but this one pushed the envelope.

I must say at the outset that I admire it, and would award it a prize if that were in my gift. It is detailed, colourful, logical to itself, and spectacular. I am brought to mind of a famous house on the shores of Kootenay Lake in British Columbia that is built using half a million square glass bottles that once held embalming fluid. It is a show place, if you are able to endure the feeling of the creeps.
I am also delighted to see the models that seem to have over-run logic and ended up as art. In full-size at a hot rod or boat show they can be oddly annoying, but as scale models they do not challenge our sensibilities.
