The Jewels.
They may not be crown jewels. They may not be in a Cartier window. They may be made of plastic and not worth over $ 20 apiece – but they are jewels nevertheless.
They represent the efforts of a major manufacturer and a dedicated enthusiast to remember real trophy winners of the past. They are an inspiration to other scale model moulders and builders to bring history to life. You are fortunate in being able to see it for yourself.
As I understand it, the models shown in this section of the hall were AMT brand. The company had made models of vehicles that won show trophies in the US hot rod scene , and the modeller completed them in like fashion. This display had history, craftsmanship, and colour all in one place. The use of the three sections of orange was brilliant. Each car was as a jewel in a setting.

As an aircraft modeller I try to do this as well – not the award -winner thing – more a case of assembling a coherent set of prototypes that speak of one air force at one time. I rarely do as well as this.
You can get a lot for your $ 10 on a wet Sunday morning…
