Our Years Of Confinement

We all served a year of confinement in 2020-2021…even if we were guilty of no crime. Disease is an unfair judge.

Most of us are as free to travel now as before, if you factor in the extra costs, the current wars and dangers, and the deterioration to our welcome as tourists. Even those of us who do not go to the normal traps are having to re-think the business.

In my family, we have just passed through a health episode that will keep us here in our home city for another year. This might have seemed a jail sentence had we been accustomed to flitting everywhere…but those Covid years ironed that out of us. It also caused me to search more diligently for art and activity here in my own studio.

Other hobbies go on apace and have been getting better and better. The scale model building seems to have no limitations. So it has become a specialty here at home, as well as at the studio. Going overseas to see things would be fine, but the opportunity and the money are not there…seeing things on the net and then doing them for myself has become the go.

Quietly, between you and I, I can give thanks that I was never a keen landscape or street photographer. Sports never interested me, and the trade in wedding photography is just a semi-fond memory. I shall leave it to the ambitious and desperate, as I shall leave the competition grind to others.

If I want to be anxious about something, I always have Czech model kits and photo-etched parts…
