As a child, I had many model aircraft kits – but one that always eluded me was the Airfix baggie of the ME 262 jet fighter.

I have since seen them as Hobby Boss and Czech kits, but never gave it much thought. Then a Revell kit called to me through a fog of disinterest from a local shelf, and I took the plunge.

Revell have a reputation for re-bagging old goods at new prices, but I reckoned that as they are a German firm now, they might do a decent moulding themselves of a native warplane. I call it styrene nationalism and I have seen it with Italeri and Tamiya. It is more than just commercialism.

Mmmm. Not sure with this one. There are large patches of flash. No sinkholes, A canopy that looks like it was cast out of barley sugar. Did they source this from a cheap factory in the east?

At least the decals look good, though with my propensities they will never be used. I have located a museum aircraft of this type that features an entirely different sort of paint job. As it will use up decals left over from another re-badged kit, I am escaping any extra expense.
