All Over The Shop

A song to the tune of ” One Day At A Time “.

This time the lyrics deal with scale modellers that build 10 models at a time. They start something, bog down, and go on to the next box in the stash to start again. Their minds shift the first kit to the back of the mental shelf and the second one proceeds…until it stops.

There are pros and cons to this:

  1. The cement gets a good time to dry if you don’t touch the kit again for a year. Sometimes it gets dry enough to fall off.
  2. You can lose parts much more easily if you are not working with them. This means you can throw away the partially-built kit and buy another while thinking you have a good excuse.
  3. Your mind is fresh. It cannot stick to any one task and you are distracted by squirrels in a park, but at least there are rubber bones and rawhide treats to settle down with afterwards.
  4. You have invested a vast amount of money that is never realised. Like a pyramid scheme in styrene.
  5. Every build is boring by the time you near completion. All the work and none of the reward.
