Someone, somewhere, is dumping 1:12 scale old mattresses on the verge outside dollhouse maker’s workshops.
And someone is dumping their old scale models at our clubrooms. We are slowly pulling them out of our display cabinets and subjecting them to scale scrutiny. It’s not the quality of the building that is suspect – it ‘s the provenance.
Some models are there with no known builder. No club member owns to them, and we suspect they have just been left on our shelves by people clearing estates. We have enough of that with models made by deceased or moribund members without taking on the detritus of strangers.
The items will get a fair trial – we will put them out and contact other clubs that use our premises to see if they do have a proper home. After a year the worst of the undesirables can be given away or binned. We’ll gain space for our own models to be displayed, and can rotate them as we complete new ones.
I am also going to start brutally Kondo’ing my studio to release myself from the bondage of donated props. Some things have not had any use for ten years and I need the space now.
