As a child I once had an unbuilt balsa model of a Brewster Buffalo.
It was well beyond my skills at the time but the design always intrigued me. Perhaps that is why I have built four of the beasts so far for my 1:72 collection.

This one is the Hobby Boss version – a very early quick-assembly kit that is seen in most hobby shops. It has already provided me with a Buffalo of the RAAF in 25 Sqn at PEARCE. This time it will be decked out as a Finnish aircraft.
The kit is very simple, the mouldings are excellent, and it was practically all assembled in one club session of a Tuesday morning. The decals were set aside carefully for future use – Hobby Boss print good graphics. The moulding also avoids the startling rivet detail that was seen in the Airfix and Revell versions.
This is a simple kid’s kit, but I am a simple kid.
