Such A Simple Idea

So effective.

The decal box was a gift from my friend John – he is a constant shopper on Temu and other Asian hobby sites. As a scale model builder himself, he is razor-sharp when looking for tools and paints. This was a real find.

It is a plastic box, fitted with a fine-grain foam block in the first compartment and an open water well in the second one. There is a separate snap lid for each of these. The set comes with a spare foam block in case you forget to clean the first one.

You fill the well and the foam block with warm water and then dip and rest your decals in them as you work. The snap lid means you can leave a decal safely while you secure a model or paint it with a setting solution. The pace of decal application is simultaneously slowed and speeded up.

There is a pair of plastic tweezers included that is perfect for delicate handling.

A novelty? An indulgence? Possibly – but it makes precise work a real pleasure.

Thank you, John.
