Make your own display.
Please yourself how you do it, but take some time and effort with the presentation…even if it is only for yourself. You will be rewarded:
a. If your collection of scale models tells a story. The library aspect
b. If your collection is a delight to the eye. The art gallery aspect.
c. If your collection is valuable. The bank vault aspect.
I cannot hope for the last-named, but I pretend to the two before it. I set my scale models out in good cabinets and lately I have been improving the lighting as well. Some items are in clear-top boxes against the dust, but even these are attractive in an industrial way.
Few people see my collection in the bookcases – most see it on the internet as part of a weblog column. That is fine – electronic display can go round the world in milliseconds for nothing, and need not be good to be interesting… Note that in your own museum there is no officious head of volunteers who can bully you or tell you to leave. You have no committee of management to fear.
