I have often paid ridiculous amounts of money for Things That Don’t Matter To Anyone Else – the vast herd of humanity couldn’t care less about a hifi cartridge. Or a 1:72 scale rare airplane. They are serious, sensible, sober, and no fun to talk to at all. The hifi enthusiast, the camera buff, the scale modeller – they all get me. They know. They have the receipts from their own follies, and I would never laugh upon seeing them.
