MiG 15 Bis – Part Five – Between The Wars

Actually you have to be a lot more specific with the Middle East – which two?. Their wars arrive in succession like buses at Bull Creek railway station – one after another.

This colour scheme is said to be late 60’s – somewhere in between the Sinai War and the 6-Day War. I have googled like mad but so far the closest I can come to any actual pictures are either a faded old monument on the Bar Lev line or black and white images of a MiG downed at sea and being recovered.

At least the contemporary images show the same markings as the Eduard kit.

There is also an ongoing argument on Britmodeller about this UARAF marking and the shape of one of the nose decals. As much as I enjoy reading ‘rak fights from the UK, I think I will just settle for omitting the insignia in question and go with the rest of the Eduard artwork.

One aspect that does intrigue me are the black and white wing and fuselage stripes – I always took this sort of thing for an Suez ID on British, French, or Israeli aircraft, albeit in yellow and black. Was someone trying to spoof at long range?
