Relax, lady. This is about scale modelling – not sex.
What do we do when the scale model magazine shows a wonderful new range of after-market parts to detail a kit and everyone else in the world can get it except us? Stuck on the edge of the Indian Ocean way out past where the buses run, we get the leftovers from wherever, if we get anything at all.
Note that this same theme plays out in electronics, photography, clothing, motor vehicles, and many aspects of consumer life. It used to be a rule that if you saw it, you bought it, because you’d never see it again.
Well, what to do when you ain’t gonna get it breaks down to a list:
a. Scratch build it from plastic, brass, or wood.
b. 3D print it from resin.
c. Copy another kit’s part using a silicone mould and resin.
d. Shop on-line for the part. Good luck with that if it comes out of North America or Europe as the shipping fees will be the killer.
e. Do without it. No good breaking your heart over an advertisement from somewhere you’re not.
