Kit-O-Plasm

The spirit of dead models made to rise again.

Let’s all sit in the dark, hold hands, and ask the ghosts of 1950’s kits to hover round us. Or we can go on eBay and do some exorcism.

Or just go round the hobby shop and see what Revell have re-boxed. I’m waiting for the cruiser OLYMPIA to make it round the solar system yet another time. Halley’s Comet was a fizzle but I still pin my hopes on that old mould.

Logically, I should abhor the Soviet re-pops of old FROG or Lindberg kits – as much on political grounds as aesthetic ones. I sneer, but occasionally, I build. I shun their decals as I would a fracturing snake.

And I’m afraid it will only be a matter of time before I succumb to curiosity and buy some Russian kit of a completely irrelevant Soviet aircraft just to see how icky it will be. It’s the modelling equivalent of looking into the pan before you flush.

But occasionally there is news of hope. Heller seem to have restarted and are promising re-releases of some old favourites. Several of these are on my burning desire list so I shall haunt my local hobby shop ( the one that lets me use their wash room when I need it ) to make sure I get the best chance if something comes in.
