The committee that organises the annual big local scale model exhibition has been thinking up new ideas and one of them is very good indeed.
Heretofore there have been traders stands, club displays, and tables for display of models in many classes. The standard for all three divisions has be quite high and even the club displays are judged by a public vote system. It is competitive all the way through.
Yet there are people not associated with clubs and not really into competition who would like to show the rest of the modellers what they do.
This year there will be provision for them. They can display without being judged – purely for the joy of it. This is a very welcoming move – I hope the committee will embrace the idea of advertising it widely to draw singletons into the show.
Note: a few years ago this would have been me – a modeller with no club and more or less condemned to always be just a spectator.
