The Mitsubishi G4M bomber – the Betty – was given this nickname because of the fuselage.
It featured an almost constant cylindrical shape aft of the wing roots and terminated in many models in a rounded tailpiece. This model kit contains this shape, thought he specific aircraft being modelled had the round-off removed to give more firing room oforthe aft cannon.

The Sword kit is very well moulded with very little flash – and no locating tabs or pins. The canopy and openwork pieces are commendably clear, although the side windows are necessarily thick. If I were to rebuild I would elect to leave these open and seal them with Micro Clear PVA.

Resin engines, but you need not saw them off their blocks as the whole structures fit inside the nacelles.

The instructions are good and the decal sheet superb – two variants to build.

I shall choose 323 – the personal aircraft assigned to Admiral Yamamoto.
