The Little World

I have heard a number of groups referred to in these terms – by a variety of people. I think most were sincere when they said it.

This is heartening – a club member ready to boast about their association is ripe for further involvement. A place on the committee, perhaps, or a volunteer position to do some needful task. Boasting is often decried, but rightful pride can be a positive thing.

However, what can we make of ” the best ” when there are so many bests? Do we need to break it down? The best clubrooms? The best collection? The best speakers? Can excellence be spread in spots to different societies?

Alternately, is there a ” Worst Model Club In The Metro Area “? How would we determine it, and who would admit to being a member? Do they hold elections or kidnappings? Do people pay at the door to get out of their exhibitions?

Is there a Hall Of Infamy?
