Heinkel He-111c – Part Four – What’s Pink And Sticky?

Your answer will depend upon your character and level of maturity.

In my case both are low, but I still think of ” sprue goo ” in answer to this question. I make it for pennies from discarded plastic sheet and lacquer thinner, and am starting to make it in three distinct consistencies. It may eventually replace Mr Hobby Dissolved Putty, as it tends to polish down better in the end.

It needs to with this Heinkel, as the fit of both wings and fuselage have more gaps than a Medibank bill. Some take pared-down Plasticard shims and some take the thick Sprue Goo. The thin and thinner Goo for the inevitable little seams.

I let each layer of Goo cure overnight in a warm place and it sands beautifully in the morning.

Of course I have made a rod studded with nails for my own back – this Heinkel airliner only came in one colour – a silver and black scheme that will show up every ill-fitting seam. But I shall persevere in the knowledge that I can twist history a little in the end.
