It Is Either A Wonderful Collection

Or an unhealthy obsession.

Have you seen the exhibition display of fifty scale models that are all the same car or plane, but painted in different livery? They may be from different makers, but often are just the same kit, repeated. The sight is impressive.

If a person has a real interest in one prototype, this is certainly one way to pursue it. There might be enough variants to make the whole rewarding…or equally, not enough to justify the trouble. If the basic model is too simple and all the variations due to manufacturing changes in the kit factory, the thing borders on the ” collectible ” game and the general public can be forgiven for a yawn.

I have some 200+ aircraft in 1:72 scale with a few duplicates. The whole, however, is a vast kaleidoscope of livery, type, shape, and design. There is no boredom. – and a new deliberate search for civil aircraft will make the whole even more colourful.
