Hurricane Night Fighter – Part Three – Dirty Black

Or clean black, as in this case.

I have not had the courage to spray the characteristic iridescent exhaust plume patterns on the side of this fighter -perhaps when the wing lights are ready…

The shiny gloss coat over the black and the three days in the window for the old Matchbox decals worked well – there was very little reluctance on the part of the decals to go down into the lines. What little silvering tried to creep in was quelled with Micro-Sol.

The cannon barrels are fierce but I suspect the wing openings were a little tight for them as moulded – a light trimming.

The landing gear was a distinct relief after coping with both Spitfire and Messerschmitt designs. Everything square and braced.

Now the lights and she can join the RAF dark shelf – must look out the current offerings for Beaufighter NF variants.

  1. You also seem to be in want of a Boulton Paul Defiant NF. Nice work, I always liked the Matchbox kits.
