The impetus for this Spitfire build came from a recently-completed model of a High Planes Wirraway.
It went so well and the Czech DK Decals sheet for it was so easy to use that I glanced down to discover there was a full Spit layout on the sheet as well. A White-tail too, which I consider a decorative bonus. So I went looking for a model to match.

I daresay there is a Czech kit of a Vc out there somewhere, but the nearest I could find on the bargain shelf was an Italeri Vb. I can make the minor mods to convert it – the strange chin radiator housing is already part of the kit.

The Italeri mould is very fine – the plane is actually somewhat delicate. I have taken the precaution of wrapping tape around some of the small parts for fear of losing them during the washing and then the bumping the box will endure.

And good news is that there are a number of Vc’s preserved in aircraft museums around the world. I’ve found colour images of the cockpits galore.

If this is a good result I may install one of my rare Revell RAF pilots in the drivers seat.
