At least lower the level of your expectations.
The hobby, after all, is meant to give you pleasure. If all you do is whinge about the efforts of others and wince at the sight of yours…well, is it time to seek your joy elsewhere?
I have gone up and down in my own estimation a number of times. Sudden wins or losses skew your perceptions and you get a false idea of how you are really doing. You really should look at things over a fairly long period of time.
You also need to equate the result with the costs – both in your effort and in your expenditures. If you are throwing three times the kit cost onto the counter for aftermarket parts, you need to consider whether buying the original kit was a good idea. Perhaps you should have purchased a different version or saved by not buying any kit and just buying aftermarket parts…
Still, you can wait and second-guess yourself forever if you are looking for the absolute best on the market. Never satisfied is never bought and never bought is never built. I’ll bet you have met modellers in exactly this position; they are always waiting for the release of the ultimate model, and it is never going to appear.
