CAC Winjeel – Part Two – High Planes Surprise

It is a mistake to judge a book by its cover or a scale model kit by its sprue tree.

In both cases appearances can be deceptive. The first glance at a High Planes product is not conducive to confidence – the trees seem crude and you wonder whether it is worthwhile going on.

Have faith – after the rather crude runners and gates are removed the actual parts are well-made. There will be trimming and flash, of course, but the basic mating surfaces are true and useful. Do not ask too much of the interior parts but be satisfied with what is on your plate.

There is a styrene engine that would be best used for a tiddly wink but a resin replacement is in the box. The resin landing gear and propeller can be bypassed as there are white-metal replacements in there as well,

Basic block assembly is promising.
